My Beautiful Niece

Grandma and Grandpa Myrick, these are just for you!! Lisa wanted me to take pictures of Shani in these dresses before they didn't fit anymore, but I think they'll fit her for the rest of her life. After all, the black one was her 8th grade choir dress.....that was TWO years ago.....she hasn't grown much in height since then. I know these shots don't really show case her dresses, but we were pressed for time and couldn't go where I really wanted to go for the shoot, so we just ended up in the Day Break neighborhood. The full body shots have houses and people in the back ground and I haven't had time to edit them out. These were just my favorite ones. I'll email you the others that I took in a bit.

I might be spilling the beans, but I"m hoping one of them emailed you and told you that Shani was just asked to her first Prom!! We're going dress shopping tomorrow....I know she's super excited! Meanwhile, Lisa, although excited for Shani, is realizing how fast Shani is growing up. It's still hard for her to realize she can date now. And quite honestly, I'm having a hard time with that one too :) Where has the time gone?

Shakespear's Twelfth Night

Todd's 6th grade class put on their rendition of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night today. They did an AWESOME job!! I loved watching Todd so much that I went to all 3 performances. Todd played Sir Toby, the town drunkard. He did such great job. He got up there and delivered his lines with confidence and volume! Hopefully this is the start of something new for him. He told me he really enjoyed rehearsal time and performing. I'm so proud of you , Todd. WAY TO GO, SON!!!

Watch this before you read on.

My Blog layout cuts off the window to view that AWESOME video. Here is the link to watch it on YouTube, if you'd like.

With that said, Chris has spent the last few days building kites with the boys out of dowels and garbage bags. It's been fun to watch their enthusiasm to know that they didn't have to buy them, they could make them. They spent countless hours putting these together and enjoyed the warm, beautiful afternoon on Sunday flying them. This picture below is of Dylan flying his Delta kite. Chris and Todd built box kites. I sat on the stairs in amazement as I listened to Chris talk to Dylan about how kites were the first step to space. It totally intrigued him and they talked for hours about it.

All of this goes hand in hand with the telescope we bought a couple of weeks ago. I love that Chris is teaching our kids and they don't even know it! They've learned all about the Apollo Space Program and so much about the moon...and just space in general. They love to sit outside at night and look at Saturn and the moon through the telescope. They even get up extra early to see Jupiter!! I can't wait to take this thing up into the mountains, away from the city light pollution.

FRIENDS!

It's SPRING BREAK!!! Emmy and just a few of her friends got together to dance, sing and just have a good time together listening to great music. Dylan had his friend, Parker, over to "hang out" and before I knew it, the two parties merged together as one. I could hear hysterical laughter coming from Emmy's room. This is what I saw when I walked in....

There might come a day when Parker will be really embarrassed by this, but they sure have had a TON of fun!! Thanks for being such a sport, Parker!!! [To be honest, I think Parker is liking the attention from all the girls ;)] I LOVE that my kids have such GREAT friends.

April Fools Day

OK....whoever ordered this TWISTED April Fools Day joke is on my hit list!!! Look at what I had to send my kids out into this morning.......ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!! I need it to be nice outside so I can regain some sanity!! It's HEAVEN when I can send my kids and the daycare kids out to play. They expend some of their pent up energy and I get a little bit of quiet time. This really feels like the winter that's never going to end.
