Last Saturday I FINALLY went and bought carpet for the boys' room. They said they could install first thing Monday morning. I was SO EXCITED at the thought of finally having it done and being able to move the boys in. Later on that night, I went downstairs to move the foam mattresses, sleeping bags and pillows that the boys had been sleeping on/with so that it'd be ready for the carpet installer Monday morning. MUCH to my dismay, I walked in on a FLOOD of water coming out from underneath the baseboards on the window wall. I screamed at Chris at the top of my lungs to come and help. We thought for sure that the source of the water was the coming from a broken pipe in the sprinkler system since that was the very first day we had used the system this year. We cleaned up the water mess and went outside and turned off the main water line. We figured that we'd still get more water in the bedroom until the lines drained, so we just put a pile of towels down to soak up whatever would come through during the night.
We woke up, hoping to find that not much water had seeped in. Much to our dismay, it was as big a mess as it was when I first found it. Long story short, Chris discovered that the leak was coming from the house line, NOT the sprinkler system. There was really only one thing it could be at that point. Sure enough, Chris' suspicions were right. It was the hose spigot!! It's never been anchored to the house, so whenever the hose is turned on and off, the whole assembly would turn. Over the years, it worked it's way loose and began to drip a very strong, fast drip into the ceiling and walls. In all 13 years that we've lived here, that has NEVER happened!!! It just had to happen right AFTER we finished that room!! Sometimes I feel like if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.
UUUUGH!!!!!! And the carpet was coming in TWO days!!!!!!!
Chris had to cut into the ceiling to fix the spigot and then he started cutting away at the drywall to find the water's pathway. He found it...and kept cutting away until there was no more wetness where he was cutting. Needless to say, he's got quite the repair job to make. But for now, we sit and wait for things to completely dry out.
I've been holding off posting any more pictures of the room because I wanted to do one big reveal when it was all done. BUT, since this setback, I've decided I can showcase the coolest part of the bedroom!!!! Are you ready????? The GLOWING stars!!!! I'm not completely done putting the stars on, as you can see in one of the pictures, but they're coming along nicely!! I'm so excited for the entire room to be done. It is so much fun to sit in this room and feel like you're in space. We got some AWESOME glow paint. It was pricey, but well worth it. It charges with any light source and stays charged for 12+ hours, but we have discovered that black lights charge it VERY quickly. In these pictures that you'll see below, I did have the black light on, but only so I could take pictures in the dark of the stars glowing. It's best viewed in a pitch dark room with NO LIGHT whatsoever!! The first picture, I used the black light to illuminate Todd so that they walls would stay dark. The second picture, I had the black light sitting right against the wall to illuminate the stars. I LOOOOVE the purple hue that makes everything white glow as well. It's such a cool effect.
